Surubim Cats are some of the fastest sportfish in town and can be caught on cutbait, small fish, flies and lures. They have beautiful hieroglyphic markings all along their elongated body and are superb predators.
They haunt nearly all waters of the Amazon rainforest and some species can be found away as Argentina and Uruguay. While some species get to over 200lbs down in the South, in the Amazon and Orinoco Basins and the Guyanas, they average 15lbs but reach over 50lbs. If an angler hooks into one of these pretty fish, it will take off like an express train and medium-heavy tackle is needed.
